The situation regarding the Bayern Munich manager’s seat is becoming increasingly complex following the latest developments related to coaches Tuchel and De Zerbi.

One of Bayern Munich’s most important tasks after the conclusion of the 2023/24 season is to search for a new head coach to replace Thomas Tuchel.

The leadership of the “Bavarian giants” had confirmed Tuchel’s departure since March, but recently, there have been media reports suggesting that they want to negotiate to keep the 50-year-old coach after being rejected by several top candidates such as Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Rangnick.

Even Sky Sports revealed that a core group consisting of Thomas Muller, Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, and Leroy Sane were trying to persuade Tuchel to change his mind. However, in an interview with Bild after Bayern’s final match of the season (a 2-4 loss to Hoffenheim in Matchday 34 of the Bundesliga), goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and forward Thomas Muller denied the information.

Neuer stated, “The sources are completely inaccurate, Muller and I did not meet with the head coach separately. I am very satisfied with his work. I also think that everything can continue, but we cannot say anything about Thomas Tuchel and his team. All I can say is that they have put all their efforts into the work, with proper preparation for each match.”

With Tuchel’s departure certain, the search for Bayern’s new “captain” will continue, and the latest name associated with the club is Roberto De Zerbi. On May 18th, De Zerbi’s current club, Brighton, announced the departure of the Italian coach after the match against Manchester United in Matchday 38 of the Premier League (May 19th, 22:00).

However, in an interview with ZDF, Sporting Director Max Ebert denied the “presence of an Italian coach at the club next season.” Additionally, journalist Florian Plettenberg (Sky Sports) declared that Bayern Munich is not considering appointing De Zerbi as the head coach.

The latest update from journalist Christian Falk (Bild) reports that Coach Roger Schmidt (Benfica) is the next name to reject Bayern.
