According to information from Sport, PSG has no plans to loan Xavi Simons to Barcelona in the summer of 2024.
In recent weeks, Barcelona has been closely linked with Xavi Simons, a player they know very well. It’s worth remembering that the Dutch midfielder developed in La Masia’s academy. He was with the Camp Nou team for nearly 10 years before being recruited by PSG.
It appears unlikely for Simons to return to Barcelona.
The French capital team sold Simons to PSV in the summer of 2022, before activating the buy-back clause, and loaned him to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023. Now, the future of the 21-year-old player is being widely discussed. Simons is believed to have a clause in his contract that allows him to choose any club if he has to leave PSG on loan again.
From Spain, Barcelona has expressed interest in loaning Simons, but their chances of doing so are very slim at the moment. According to Sport, PSG has no plans for Barcelona to loan the 21-year-old player.
PSG is not sure if Simons will be able to start at the club next season, and the player himself has no intention of returning to the French capital. He is likely to continue with RB Leipzig, despite his desire to join Barcelona.
