Many Bayern Munich players want coach Thomas Tuchel to continue his tenure with the club, but this has faced opposition from the higher echelons of the team’s management.
Some members of the upper echelons at Bayern do not want Coach Tuchel to remain at the club.
On May 14th, Sky Sports in German reported that Honorary President Uli Hoeneß and former CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge vehemently opposed the idea of keeping Coach Tuchel at the club. Previously, Hoeneß had criticized and questioned the coaching abilities of the 50-year-old coach.
However, on the other hand, goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and forward Thomas Muller have been actively lobbying internally to keep Coach Tuchel. After several candidates declined to take the hot seat at the Allianz Arena, the players hope that the German strategist will continue to lead the team.
Recently, Bayern Munich’s new Sporting Director, Max Eberl, also praised Coach Tuchel, stating that the decision to leave by the former Chelsea manager was made before he joined the club.
As a key decision-maker in appointments at the Allianz Arena, Sporting Director Eberl theoretically still has the possibility of Tuchel staying at Bayern Munich next season.
While the upper echelons oppose keeping Coach Tuchel, the players want the opposite. The situation at Bayern has never been as complex as it is now.
Moreover, the team just experienced a season of failure on all fronts. They returned empty-handed from the Champions League, the National Cup, and the Bundesliga. Coach Tuchel is about to leave again, while his replacement has not yet arrived.
According to Goal, Tuchel is not short of destinations after leaving the Allianz Arena. In fact, there are rumors that the former Chelsea manager has received an offer from Manchester United.
