Mbappe won the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award.

The 25-year-old player received the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award at the UNFP gala (French Players’ Union awards ceremony). This marks the fifth consecutive time Kylian Mbappe has won this title after scoring 44 goals across all competitions for PSG.

This accolade further adds to the regret of PSG fans because not long ago, Mbappe also confirmed his departure from the Parisian club when his contract expires in June.

At the award ceremony, Mbappe said: “It’s a new chapter, a phase of my life coming to an end. Ligue 1 will always hold a special place in my life. It’s the only league I’ve known in my career until now.”

“I’ve always tried to be an honorable representative of this league. I’ll surely miss it. It’s been a part of my life, but it’s coming to an end. What’s about to happen will be very exciting but still unpredictable,” he added.

PSG has two more matches in Ligue 1 to play this week and a French Cup final against Lyon on May 25th.
