Crystal Palace gave an unbelievable number to Bayern Munich when the two sides negotiated the future of coach Oliver Glasner.
Crystal Palace does not want to part with coach Oliver Glasner.
The headline reveals that the English Premier League club wants Bayern to pay a transfer fee of 100 million euros if they want to recruit Glasner. The Austrian coach is the latest target of the Bavarian club, after other candidates have successively declined.
Coach Glasner has only taken the hot seat at Palace since February. His contract runs until the end of the 2025/26 season. Therefore, Palace’s leadership is confident in retaining the coach.
Palace’s demanding request made Bayern withdraw. The Athletic evaluates this as Palace’s maneuver, as no club in the world would spend tens of millions of euros to release a coach’s contract, let alone 100 million.
As for Glasner, he is committed to his future with Palace. He is the fourth coach to reject Bayern within a month, following Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick, and Julen Lopetegui.
The Bayern leadership is in a difficult position. The club does not rule out the possibility of continuing with Thomas Tuchel.
However, the management team of the German club leans towards the possibility of inviting coach Hansi Flick back to lead Bayern.
