Bayern Munich was unable to win any title in the 2023/24 season. And there may be up to 7 players who will leave the Allianz Arena team this summer.
1. Leroy Sane
Sane is perhaps the most sought-after star at Bayern at the moment. The former Man City player is likely to return to the Premier League next season. The German international signed with Bayern in 2020. Since then, he has scored 48 goals and provided 50 assists in 175 appearances.
Sane is undoubtedly one of the best wingers in Europe, and Bayern considers him an important player. However, his contract only runs until 2025, meaning he could be sold this summer if he doesn’t agree to an extension.
Liverpool is rumored to be keeping an eye on Sane in case they lose Mohamed Salah and will move to sign him if he’s available. Chelsea has also been linked with Sane in recent weeks.
2. Joshua Kimmich
Midfielder Joshua Kimmich has played a crucial role in Bayern’s success over the past few years. However, reports suggest he may be ready for a new challenge elsewhere. Like Sane, Kimmich’s contract only runs until 2025, and negotiations for an extension are currently at a standstill.
The situation of the 29-year-old has attracted the attention of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool, all of whom are considering signing him in the summer.
Kimmich has plenty of experience at the highest level and can play as a defensive midfielder or right-back. He has made 388 appearances for Bayern, scoring 42 goals and providing 104 assists. He has won 8 Bundesliga titles as well as the Champions League in 2020.
Kimmich is familiar with Pep Guardiola from their time together at Bayern. Therefore, a reunion at the Etihad Stadium could be on the cards.
3. Alphonso Davies
Davies is one of the fastest players in Europe and a key star for Bayern. However, he may leave at the end of this season. With the German club’s poor form, the 25-year-old is considering whether to extend his contract beyond 2025 and is being targeted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Real Madrid is reportedly keen on signing Davies, but the left-back is also attracting interest from top Premier League teams like Liverpool and Manchester City.
Losing Davies would be a significant blow for Bayern. However, they are believed to be willing to accept offers in the region of €50 million (£43 million) for the Canadian player if he does not extend his contract.
5. Matthijs De Light
Matthijs de Ligt was hailed as one of the world’s top young defenders when he joined Bayern from Juventus in 2022. However, the Dutch international has struggled for form this season. Tuchel left him out of the starting lineup for a crucial match against Leverkusen in February, opting instead for Eric Dier.
Nevertheless, many clubs still view De Ligt as a world-class defender and may send hefty offers to Bayern to acquire him this summer. The English press reports that Manchester United and Arsenal are very interested in signing De Ligt if he becomes available.
5. Jamal Musiala
As one of the most exciting young players in the world, Jamal Musiala is a talented attacking midfielder with an extremely promising future. To date, the 20-year-old has made 163 appearances for Bayern, scoring 43 goals and providing 31 assists.
Like many players on this list, he only has a contract until 2025. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed in January that Bayern will try to tie him down to a long-term contract in the coming months. However, with Bayern empty-handed this season, Musiala could join another club in the summer.
Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal have all previously expressed interest in the German international. However, Musiala won’t come cheap as he is estimated to be valued at around 100 million euros (£86 million).
6. Serge Gnabry
Another former Premier League player, Serge Gnabry, didn’t find success at Arsenal but has truly found his place in the Bundesliga. Gnabry joined Bayern in 2017 and has scored at least 10 goals in each season. He can excel in both winger and forward positions during his time at the Allianz Arena.
However, Gnabry has recently struggled with injuries and has only started 5 games in the Bundesliga this season. The emergence of Kane has also limited the opportunities for the German international.
Manchester United and Manchester City were linked with Gnabry last year. Therefore, they could revisit the idea of signing him this summer if Gnabry seeks a new challenge after an inconsistent season with Bayern.
