According to sources from the French newspapers L’Équipe and Le Parisien, a farewell ceremony for Kylian Mbappe is set to take place this weekend. The small event will be held at the Parc des Princes stadium as PSG hosts Toulouse in the final round of Ligue 1 on the evening of May 12th. Mbappe will bid farewell to the fans during this occasion.

In recent months, the relationship between him and the team’s supporters has weakened. They were disappointed when Mbappe chose not to extend his contract with the club. Even the coaching staff limited his appearances in Ligue 1 matches.

Mbappe’s contract will expire in June, but both parties have decided not to renew it. He will depart his hometown club as a free agent in the summer transfer window after 7 years of association.

Although no official announcement has been made, his next destination is likely to be Real Madrid. The France international is said to have agreed to join the La Liga giants in December.

The match against Toulouse will also mark Mbappe’s final appearance at the Parc des Princes stadium in the colors of the capital city’s team. With PSG being eliminated from the Champions League, Mbappe’s last game will be the Coupe de France final against Lyon.

Mbappe joined PSG at the age of 18 in 2017. Throughout that time, he has risen to become a prominent star in world football. He is currently PSG’s all-time leading goal scorer with 255 goals in 306 appearances.

He has won 6 Ligue 1 titles and 3 Coupe de France trophies, including a domestic quadruple in the 2019-2020 season with the French club. Also in that remarkable season, Mbappe led PSG to their first UEFA Champions League final, only to lose to Bayern Munich.
