Saka and Saliba up for PL Young Player of the Year

Saka

Bukayo Saka and William Saliba are both candidates for the Young Player of the Season award in the Premier League for 2023/24.

Our duo have been included on the eight-player shortlist for the annual prize in recognition of their assistance in advancing our title challenge.

Thus far in our league campaign, William has been an ever-present participant, appearing in every minute of all 36 matches. Only Wolves’ Max Kilman has managed to accomplish the same accomplishment among outfielders.

This season, the 23-year-old has recorded 17 clean sheets, which is more than any other player in the division. Additionally, in victories over Burnley and West Ham United, he contributed with two goals from the opposite end.

Bukayo, meanwhile, continues to soar, surpassing all previous competitors with 16 goals in this competition, the most in any campaign of his career.

With two games remaining, an additional nine assists bring his total goal involvements to 25, which is the same as the previous season. Furthermore, he holds the club record in terms of goals scored and generated.

Six additional players are included on the shortlist, including Erling Haaland, who won the award last season, and Phil Foden, a teammate from Manchester City and the Football Writers’ Player of the Year.

Alexander Isak and Cole Palmer are selected in recognition of their outstanding goalscoring campaigns for Newcastle United and Chelsea, respectively. Kobbie Mainoo, a breakout star for Manchester United, and Destiny Udogie, a defender for Tottenham, round out the lineup.

The winner will be determined by combining the opinions of a panel of judges with the ballots of supporters; you can assist our duo in securing the award by casting your vote by Monday, May 13 at noon.
