PSG halted negotiations for Ethan Mbappé’s contract extension after his brother Kylian declared his departure from Paris. Both their contracts are set to expire this summer

Kylian Mbappe’s brother ready to snub Real Madrid in favour of PSG stay

According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins of RMC SPORT, Ethan Mbappe will not be joining Real Madrid at the end of the season, in contrast to his older brother Kylian Mbappe.

Amid Kylian’s imminent transfer to the Spanish capital in the last few months, rumors circulated that Real Madrid was counseled to sign Ethan by the PSG forward, and Los Blancos granted the request.

As the narrative progressed, it became clear that Ethan might be considering leaving as well, but this is not confirmed yet.

Curiously, Ethan hasn’t been in the starting lineup since his brother’s choice was made public, despite making a few games under Luis Enrique, including a brief stay in Ligue 1 and a few of appearances in the Coupe de France.

Enrique may be giving the young player a shot, but the whole Mbappe to Real Madrid narrative has coincided with this inconsistent play in the first team.

Ethan wants to continue at PSG

Despite his strong ties to PSG as a local talent, Ethan hopes to continue his journey with the club.

But there is growing interest in him both domestically and abroad, especially from German and Spanish clubs. Nevertheless, Hawkins said he wouldn’t think of quitting, even if his brother Kylian signs a contract with Real Madrid.

This is due to the fact that Ethan appears committed to forging his own route, supported by his own admiration and the club’s awareness of his ability.

Enrique likes Ethan

In December, Ethan made his Ligue 1 debut. The coach praised the teenager, calling him a “very promising player with versatility.”

But since his older brother’s exit plans were made public, he has not played much for the first team. However, Luis Enrique started Ethan in the most recent game against Clermont.

It’s unclear if this was because the coach wanted to emphasize Ethan’s importance going forward or because other players were rested for the Champions League, but in the thick of it all, he was able to play and accumulate additional minutes.
