Legendary Lothar Matthaus advises Bayern Munich to bring in Aston Villa’s coach Unai Emery, thereby replacing Thomas Tuchel.
Thomas Tuchel is preparing to resign at the end of the season after Bayer Leverkusen ended Bayern Munich’s 11-year championship streak in the Bundesliga. Leverkusen’s coach, Xabi Alonso, is considered the top candidate to replace Tuchel at the helm of the Bavarian club.
In the past, Alonso has also spent time playing for Bayern. However, it seems Alonso may stay at Leverkusen for at least another season. Julian Nagelsmann, who coached Bayern for 18 months before being sacked and replaced by Tuchel, is rumored to be a possible returnee to the club.
However, Nagelsmann has signed a two-year contract extension with the German national team earlier this week. Currently, options are becoming increasingly scarce, especially since Bayern tends to only hire German-speaking coaches.
Legendary Lothar Matthaus advises Bayern Munich to bring in Aston Villa’s coach Unai Emery, thereby replacing Thomas Tuchel. He said: “I would bring in Unai Emery from Aston Villa. He’s doing very well there. He has a lot of experience – including on the international stage – and for example, he has won titles with Sevilla.
He speaks English perfectly. Then he can learn German, but anyway, all the players can speak English, so I don’t see any language barrier. Emery will also bring a breath of fresh air; he will be a new face in the Bundesliga, and that would be very suitable for Bayern Munich.”
Bayern has dismissed claims they are set to appoint Zinedine Zidane. The French coach has been unemployed since leaving Real Madrid in 2021. Ralf Rangnick, former interim coach of Manchester United, is another target for the German club.
