Coach Mikel Arteta is already thinking about the upcoming 2024/25 season, after Arsenal was eliminated by Bayern from the Champions League.
The Guardian asserts that Arsenal manager Arteta will be allocated a significant budget to bolster the team’s strength in the summer of 2024, despite the club having spent over £200 million last summer to bring in a host of stars such as Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber.
The leading English newspaper emphasizes that Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) – Arsenal’s owner – recognizes that Arteta’s squad needs reinforcement to enable them to take the next steps, specifically in pursuing titles.
Newcastle’s forward Alexander Isak is one of the key targets Arsenal is eyeing for the summer of 2024. Sources suggest that the Swedish star could cost Arsenal around £100 million.
Meanwhile, Viktor Gyokeres – Isak’s compatriot – is a slightly cheaper option as he has a buyout clause valued at £86 million. This season, the 25-year-old Gyokeres has scored 36 goals and provided 16 assists in 44 appearances for Sporting Lisbon across all competitions – a truly impressive tally.
Additionally, Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise is also within Arsenal’s sights. Olise recently signed a new four-year contract with Palace in August last year after rejecting Chelsea, but that doesn’t mean the 22-year-old player can’t leave Selhurst Park in the summer of 2024.
The Guardian reports that Arsenal’s scouting department is very keen on Olise due to his intelligent, skillful, and pacey style of play. This season, Olise has appeared in only 9 matches for Arsenal in the Premier League due to injury. Currently, Olise has a release clause with Palace worth £65 million, effective from this summer.
