‘Beating Arsenal is in my DNA’ – Harry Kane fires up spirits for Bayern

Before the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal, Harry Kane rallied his teammates fiercely, somewhat unsettling Gunners fans.

“Kane has always been a challenge for Arsenal during his time at Tottenham, scoring 14 goals in 19 matches against the Gunners. He broke that record last week upon returning to London with Bayern Munich, netting in the 2-2 draw in the Champions League quarter-final.”

Only two teams – Everton and Leicester – have seen Kane score more goals, and he admits that Arsenal’s rejection of him at the age of 9 is a significant factor behind his determination every time he faces them.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the English forward shared, “Tottenham has faced Arsenal at least twice a year for the past 10 years, and it has always been a big match, a big moment. Being rejected by Arsenal when I was young always lingered in my mind, making me feel like I needed to prove myself.”

“I’m the type of player who, throughout my career, always has to prove something. Instinct is something that sticks with you forever. Beating Arsenal will always be part of my DNA, until I retire. There’s always a reason to prove someone wrong or prove that you can do something.”

“Now I’m at Bayern Munich, the important thing is to become a top team in the Champions League. Of course, I have a history with Arsenal, but all I can do is try to help Bayern Munich win.”
