Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes that the lack of enthusiasm from the fans is severely affecting the players’ morale.
Following Arsenal’s defeat against Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal legend Ian Wright expressed disappointment at witnessing some of the home fans leaving before the match concluded, leaving significant gaps in the stands.
Many Arsenal fans left early during the defeat against Aston Villa.
“I feel the need to say something to the fans. When we think back to the glorious era of Manchester United, we had the concept of Fergie Time. Manchester United fans were always there (in the stands) until the final minute, and together they created magical moments.
Looking back at the scene of fans leaving at the Emirates in the recent match, it truly demoralizes the players,” Ian Wright shared after the game.
“The players need the support of the fans, so witnessing supporters leaving before the match concludes will undoubtedly dampen the spirits of these lads. The way fans depart as if everything’s already decided, it truly saddens me,” he added.
Not only did Arsenal lose on the field, but they were also overwhelmed by the visiting fans right in the stands.
Following the defeat against Aston Villa, Arsenal now trails Manchester City by 2 points at the top of the table. Theoretically, they still have a chance to compete for the Premier League title. However, in the immediate future, Mikel Arteta’s team will have to face a challenging away trip to the Allianz Arena to play against Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
