Manchester City is reportedly leading the race to sign Jamal Musiala after the Bundesliga star rejected Bayern Munich’s contract extension. However, Liverpool is also closely trailing.

The Daily Star reports that Bayern Munich has offered Jamal Musiala a new contract worth £150,000 per week, extending until summer 2026. However, the 21-year-old star declined the offer amidst internal issues within the Allianz Arena club.

The German football giants led by Thomas Tuchel are facing the prospect of a trophy-less season.

Bayern Munich is currently trailing Leverkusen in the race for the Bundesliga title, a competition they have dominated for over a decade. Meanwhile, in the DFB-Pokal (German Cup), the Bavarians were eliminated early.

In the Champions League arena, Bayern is also in trouble after a 0-1 loss to Lazio in the first leg of the round of 16.

Reports suggest that if Bayern fails to secure a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals, Thomas Tuchel could be sacked immediately, without waiting until the end of the season.

According to sources, due to the instability at Bayern Munich, Musiala currently “aims to move to a Premier League club this summer”.

Liverpool is ready to compete with Man City to sign Musiala, but Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of the season could be a disadvantage.

The information has made both Man City and Liverpool extremely excited. Both Premier League giants are interested in Musiala and have sent scouts to watch the talented player in Bayern’s 0-3 loss to Leverkusen in February.

Musiala previously played for Chelsea’s youth team before joining Bayern Munich in 2019 and was promoted to the first team the following year. He has now scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists in 28 appearances across all competitions for the Bavarian club.
